Founder

I'm Shannon Simpson. I've been building software professionally since 1995. In the first half of my career, I added software engineering into my primary jobs of technical support, QA, and technical writing to create tools that made the job easier for me and the people around me; in the second half of my career, software engineering was the focus, but it was stacked with architecture, technical leadership, management, product ownership and executive leadership. I have rarely had just one set of responsibilities at a time, but the common thread is a focus on product, outcome and leadership.

I spent most of my career inside the systems where privacy and security are the focus: from administrative access in the data center of one of the world's largest corporations to every side of the payment processing industry, from the point of sale to the acquirer to the issuer and back. Then I did it again in two more industries with the same concerns. I know privacy and security at the practical level, and my entire career has been informed by both.

I founded Leet Enterprises in North Carolina, and right now I'm the only person here. I have a full résumé of delivering high-profile, quality products — some of which over-performed their original designs, some of which lived so long that nobody had to touch them until a certificate expired. What I'd point at isn't the résumé, it's the way I think. I think like a product owner, I think like an end-user, I think like a maintainer, I think like a systems architect, I think like an accountant. I've been thinking like a founder my entire career. I have a passion for good design, for things that last, and for sharing what I've learned with everyone willing to listen.
